Looking Forward To Some R&R

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Sorry I have been neglecting you all. I have been working my butt off practically non stop so I can take some time off and travel to far away lands. I hope to take some pictures and post them along the way whenever I get internet service and stop having fun šŸ™‚Ā Ā  This summer has been a roller coaster of sorts where one night is always different from the next. Well that has always been true since Las Vegas has such a ebb and flow to it but in summers past it’s always been consistent but at a lazy pace unlike the crazy spring time convention season.

September is usually the second slowest month behind December for me. I am sad I will miss the first few days of MAGIC because the fall one is bigger than the spring one but hopefully tomorrow will be more clients from the show. The rest of the month is a good time to take off, I think. Hopefully this September doesn’t turn on me and end up shocking us all at being good. That would be just my luck..

So I have had a lot of people ask me about the Las Vegas economy and how it’s effecting me. I will definitely write a lot more about it in it’s own special post because I have a lot to say. Times are different for sure.

Itā€™s Late And Slow But Thatā€™s Nothing New For December In Vegas

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Yea tough economic times this and tough times that. The economic situation is the new excuse for clients. I giggle every time I hear someone scoff at tipping for entertainment claiming, ā€œDonā€™t you know weā€™re in a recession?ā€ Uhm, maybe so but men still pay for fun so no you donā€™t get a freebee! I know that casino revenues are down, I know strippers are getting lonely in the clubs, but I think people still know that paying for a girl for sex is a better value than blowing it downstairs or in the club. Yes, it has become more difficult and yes the fall in Las Vegas is a rollercoaster (when *isnā€™t* this town a rollercoaster?) but overall I have tried to deal by having patience. It seems to be my best trait and it ends up paying off. Sometimes things are out of my control (like clients tonight being overdrawn or forgetting their credit card and ID at the strip club they were just at) but I tend to sit it out and try harder than most other girls. I have tried ditching the more picky and stingy side of meā€¦ definitely a positive lesson to learn.

Moving onto something more interesting! Thanks to Simon who emailed me this link to an article on Scientific American about why men buy sex. I found it fairly interesting and thorough but it also made me realize: Iā€™m glad I am a sex worker in the United States. Sounds odd but from the article and the many stories I hear from clients who gloat about getting a girl (or two) all night for $20 in Thailand, or the German clients who get seriously upset when they donā€™t get sex for the agency fee (since intercourse is often times approximately $100 or less), I couldnā€™t imagine working some place where I didnā€™t feel much value due to the amount of money I made. That is also one of the reasons why I felt so bad when I read how much Amanda Brooks was making on her clients at Bellas Ranch. I would feel like less of a person if the money I was making didnā€™t add up to the work I did. That, to me, is abusive. Anyway, I went off a tangent but the main point is itā€™s a pretty good article. I think most people here in Las Vegas get girls because they are tired of the games girls play at the clubs and want the no-hassle/no strings attached approach. I think itā€™s a good idea! (of course)

Feeling The Economic Crunch In Las Vegas: Prostitutes Are Getting Creative!

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

So last night I originally started this blog at 3am sitting at an agency bored out of my mind, deafened by the silence of the phones, and scribbling words down on my little note pad (not too comfortable taking my new laptop out of its cocoon of my house yet) then realizing that things have really slowed down in Vegas compared to last July. My phone rang right when I was thinking that and had to run off to Treasure Island where I made a decent amount of money. Though I donā€™t believe in luckā€¦ I sure did feel lucky to have that one call.

Anyway, last night aside, itā€™s been a slow few weeksā€¦ painfully slow at times. Even the 4th of July holiday was dreadfully bad. I think I spent more on gas than I made in tips. Recently I saw an article in the newspaper about how gambling profits are down 15% in Las Vegas and MGM Mirage lost something like 30% in their first quarter. First time anything has slumped at all in about a decade. The whole fuel situation with the airlines is causing major issues too since they have cut flights coming into Las Vegas plus the California drivers have been less plentiful this summer unlike previous years. It doesnā€™t help that people donā€™t promote bargains here anymore like before, its now all about bigger and better and charging at least $1000 for it.

Last night I went to fill my car up and noticed a girl hanging around the front of the convenience store and could instantly tell what she was up to and was waiting for her ā€œrideā€. Another car pulled up when she got into immediately but I guess he was broke and only ended up giving him her number. She hopped out and quickly jumped into another car, which left the station. Guess that guy worked out. All while pumping my gas I thought to myself, ā€œwow, I wonder if the 7-11 lots will become the new ā€˜trackā€™ā€ Not too long before this trip to the gas station I had been at the Imperial Palace for a call and noticed a high number of prostitutes walking the Strip. Usually girls keep from looking so obvious and stay away from the street due to the officers who stand by watching and pluck girls off the street to put them in their paddy wagons hiding around the corner.

I guess when times get hard you have to resort to things you wouldnā€™t normally do and suffer the consequences if caught. Thankfully I havenā€™t resorted to these measures and hopefully wont, though after making $0 two nights in a row, it seems tempting! Nah..
