Something Is Missing During NAB

So one of the largest conventions of the season is in town, though you’d never know it: the National Association Of Broadcasters convention. It has always been a weird one since people seem to go to bed super early. I thought I had written about it before, but apparently I hadn’t said much about it but it tends to mark the end of the spring convention festivity. This spring has been more of a roller coaster than before and February was awesome (and even the casinos were up then for the first time in a few years), but the conventions have been noticeably absent and even the bachelor parties have gone down in number. What’s the reason for all of this? Some blame the economy, some blame Obama’s comments about Las Vegas several times in the media, and some blame Vegas for not offering enough to the tourists on a budget since not everyone can buy a $400 bottle of Skyy vodka and a Gucci purse.

Usually during the spring it’s nothing but bachelor parties on the weekends and conventioneers Sunday-Thursday. I’m not a huge fan of the bachelor parties since the return on your time is quite low (and a lot of parties just don’t work out) but I like to at least have the option of going to a call to try to work something out. Starting this Sunday, the Rehab pool party reopens at Hard Rock and the level of calls tend to go up on Sunday nights when the pool season starts. Sunday turns from a relaxed night to see clients to wilder than Friday night. It’s quite amusing.

Last year I was waiting for a client to answer his phone so I could go upstairs on a Sunday Rehab party night. I was watching all of the people sunkissed and having fun in the hallways as the party was winding down, but within 5 minutes of sitting down to wait I had a drink spilled on me by one drunk guy, another guy tried yanking my arm like I was his property, and one guy yelled at me like a kid because I wouldn’t let him use my cell phone. I couldn’t help but laugh at the circus show.

Oh by the way, thanks for all of your votes on the fetish poll! I’ll see about a new schoolgirl uniform and maybe work down my list 🙂

Who are the “some” people who are blaming Obama for the lack of Vegas tourism? Are they escorts? Journalists?
I have read about the Vegas politicians who have complained about Obama’s comments. (I suppose it’s their job to defend Vegas from verbal attacks whether or not they really believe these verbal attacks will impact the tourism biz.) But I guess I really have no idea how everyone else in Vegas feels about Obama’s comments.

I’m a person who lives in Vegas and who relies almost completely on Convention work. I’ve heard from people on the sales end of things that there were a large amount of cancellations immediately following one if not both of those quotes from the President. I’m sure that they were not written in advance, and they were not intended to harm, but the President has to realize the weight of his words. The reality is that there are really only two cities in the US that can handle the largest conventions. One of those cities is run by a Mouse who purports to be “wholesome” and family oriented but pays peanuts compared to similar operations in major metropolitan areas. The other place is completely up front about what it is, and that is Sin City. A place for adults to do whatever they wish they could do all the time, but “couldn’t possibly” at home. Our Courtesan and others are a part of that. The other reason that quite a few meetings are held in Las Vegas is that it is the least expensive city to fly people from all over the country to. Historically, this was rumoured to be because the casinos subsidized flight to Vegas, but I don’t know if this was, or is, true, but the fact is that if you have to get a group of people from around the country together, Vegas is one of the most cost effective places to do it based on airfare. Wow, I really rambled on there… And to think I was typing all this on my @Palm #pre!! Heehehhehehe

Of all the things that I read on your site the most unbelievable part was that you have a Palm Pri 😉
Stay safe as it brightens my day to read your exploits written up so candidly and I cant wait for your book or film deal 😉

I get your point, but I think you’re overestimating the city’s openness. Just ask tLVC, who has to sneak around to do her thing.

    TheRealBevan,
Wow, cancellations immediately following the president’s comments? That’s amazing, and I’m surprised that the national news media wouldn’t mention the hard numbers of cancellations even though they did address this story.

TheRealBevan is speaking the truth. I actually had a friend coming out here right after to a meeting that ended up being canceled due to Obama’s comments. She had to end up coming anyway with her boyfriend because they had paid for their own flights to have a little get away before the meeting started. She said the women at the spa and concierge of their hotel told them that right after these comments were made, their schedules went from booked to empty. Also quite a few staff members were let go after the round of cancellations of conventions. It was quite shocking, but it really did happen and impact Vegas. Those next few weeks were the peak of convention season (Spring 2008) and had suddenly gone quiet with no one coming to town. That’s the reason why Oscar Goodman got so miffed on camera to the news stations and demanded an apology. He wasn’t just trying to make a political stink, it had actually made an impact on the city.

The city/county is open in many ways and very closed minded in others. I should make a post on the recent stink with the sex clubs.

You are missing the Tiger Woods factor. Every time a scandal comes out, it’s the women telling on the men, like little children. You’re not taking into account how many men,who are absolutely afraid of women, because the nature of women have “big mouths”. Paying them for their silence is what they are doing when they have sex with you. What happened to Tiger, Jesse James, Clinton, Spitzer, and all the others, including Gary Hart, is a result of Women who can’t keep their mouths shut. For every 100 men who buy, 300 don’t, because of that situation, and the bigger the name the guy possesses, the more endanger he is of that woman. Koby Bryant was “set-up”. You girls have to make up your mind. Are you out to sell “Pleasure”, or are you “Con Artists” in disguise? You might be straight, but there is no way for a man who has a good job and a family, to know you will not do that to him, trashing his life. The “pay-off” is causing the problem. The girls who squeal are getting rewarded with money and TV. Tiger Woods gave one girl $10 million. It all looks good now, but in time, the pay-offs will dry up and so will your business. You won’t be able to “give it away”, if someone doesn’t get some control of this Bad Behavior. Call Girls are getting to be like Cops. Just a cover-up to Bully and Abuse.

  8. lasvegascourtesan Says:

Oh no this has turned to the Tiger scandal… which is all good. Here’s my opinion:

Lets make one thing clear about the 90% of the girls who have been revealing the details during these “scandals” and such, except for Spitzer because it differs than the rest. The girls that have been involved in all of these other scandals have never been professional girls or escorts specifically hired for their services. These have all been porn stars, “bottle hookers”, club girls, and strippers who have never been specifically hired for their sexual services. They have been spoiled and felt like some celebrity really cared about them when in reality the celebrity was treating them like a paid professional. The girls were dumb to believe this and the celebrities were even more stupid for thinking this was a better way of doing things.

I don’t know of a single call girl who has gone out and snitched on their client here in Las Vegas, ever. I have seen some minor celebrities and some of my friends have seen some big name celebrities but all of us don’t go out and tell everyone because in the end we would be exposing ourselves and ruining our own lives by announcing to the world, “Hey I’m a professional call girl”. The girls in these scandals all feel betrayed somehow and taken advantage of and want a big payback. I agree they have what is coming to them, but don’t get those lawsuit happy greedy girls confused with girls like me. Two different worlds.

Spitzer was only different in this case because it was a police raid on an agency who revealed his identity and Ashlee Dupré’s real identity. She never went to the media and told on him like the girls in the Tiger Wood’s scandal. She only had one interview with a newspaper and she never sued Spitzer for money. She was even offered in the millions for Hustler or Playboy shoots, which she never did. So really, how are professionals the con artists?

  9. lasvegascourtesan Says:

Funny that I posted this about Ashlee Dupré yesterday and today on CNN I see she is now posing for Playboy but held off until after the scandal had passed.

  10. shayan Michelle Says:

I wrote about the girls being con-artists and ruining the “Business”. The first thing I want to say is, if you are not a con-artist, you don’t collect 50 text messages & phone calls, unless you plan on using them. Secondly, I just heard on TV, CNN, that 4 girls, 3 that were with Tiger Woods, and 1 who slept with Jesse James, are getting their own reality show, called “Celebrity Cheaters”, going under cover, catching high profile men, with hidden cameras, cheating. The news woman said: “This will stop most men from cheating, because they don’t know which girl is setting them up for the show.” The idea came from a show called “Cheaters”. They said as soon as the contract is signed, they will put the Show into production, which means that girls like myself, who are in the Business, will find that the clients will no longer trust me or anyone else. We once worried about police being undercover. Now, because of this new show coming out, we have to worry about girls being undercover. — When Men come in town and sit at the bar, or call a girl to his room, he now has to worry about her being undercover. Not as a cop, but someone much more dangerous to his life. How would you feel if every time you go to a room, you have to worry about someone not only being a Cop, but now working for a television show, where they can expose you nation-wide, or planning on exposing you so “they” may become famous. And You are the one who is famous. You have million dollars in your bank account, a handsome husband at home, and a lucrative career, and someone is about to flush it down the toilet. The girls figure they can make more money being a movie star, doing a Playboy layout, or a Reality Star.

You don’t have to take my word. Look at the sky. A storm is coming. We fought so hard to de-criminalize the Business, and allow ourselves to Work, only to fin d out we have been “sleeping with the enemy”. Our own Sisters are the ones who are going to bring us down. Feel free to disagree. But I know time will prove me Right. I said that Ashley Dupre was going for the fame and the money. Everyone told me I was wrong. In time, open the issue of Playboy, and if she’s Not in it, then I’m wrong.

  11. lasvegascourtesan Says:

Yea I found it ironic that I said that about Ashlee and the very NEXT day she’s on CNN talking about her deal with Playboy. I guess she’s just more patient than the other money grubbers.

I agree that other girls in the business only bring other girls down. Take my opinion on the Operation V.E.T.O. where I feel like the real offenders are the girls who steal and drug customers instead of doing actual work. These girls I feel need to be thrown under the jail for such stupidity. They only make everyone else look bad and bring us down. I definitely don’t disagree with that… and I definitely agree that girls who save years worth of texts are only after two things: fame and money.

That reality show makes me gag… I hope it doesn’t really end up coming into existence.
